cHILDHOOD gAMES .......

My 11-year old bro, a 7th grade who’s staying with me, is very fond of talking. Talking in the sense; he shares how he used to fool mom & go to Red Cross Society’s playground in Bangabagar, how he managed to go to Lacha kho daily for swimming when he was a kiddo (funny part is that he think he’s grown up now ;) ), how he escaped beatings from mom n dad, his excuses n nataks in front of them. His words always refreshes me & also forces me to give it a thought to things happening around & well.... introspect. Being away from home for studies …… i neither had an opportunity be with him at times when he was learning how to crawl , walk & talk … nor saw him doing stupid things what the kids are supposed to do …. So during leisure time he passionately speaks abt his wrongdoings ( ??????? ) back home & expects the same from me … always keeps on pressurizing me to share about my stupidities when I was young & stupid like him …:) thanx to him ….. my childhood memories are still fresh in mind …..:) It so happened yesterday that we were just lazing around, he suddenly bubbled, what games you guys used to play when you were a kiddo ? Going back to childhood memories is very nostalgic indeed. Well…to answer his question I was taken back to my child era. I started recalling games we used to play & after a long pause....i uttered; Yokna (Gulli Danda), Sampolya (soft ball made by putting waste in socks), Addu (Dus ka Raj, Bhasam), Games played with goli like Tyak-Tyak (feminine game), Pil Dugade (masculine game), & one more name I am unable to recollect (in which golis r placed in circle ), Mud ka Jhapad, Tonka (Using square/round stones ), Chakkar (Circular disc generally made of khaini dhakkan with sharp edges; like gears), Gucchi, Chak-Mak ga Patta , Chya-shega, Tam-shega & many more ….…… (I am sure most of the people who played these games, would be smiling after goin thru these words) Well it took me a while to remember, but I was surprised to know that these games are no more played. All I cud realize was that… games I grew up playing are going to get extinct & how things are changing with time. These games are completely replaced by Video games, Computer games. I am sure most of the parents played these games but nowadays they think that child should play more of video games and computer games rather then playing these games. May be they think their children should play games more for brain then the games that involve physical activities. I just wonder…do they find anything wrong in their child’s development by playing these games? I don't feel that I have lost somewhere something or I am underdeveloped when it comes to grey matter than any person in this world… At the same time, somewhere deep down in my heart I feel that some of the games that we used to play in childhood are part of our Rung Culture ’coz as far as I m concern I haven’t seen few of these games played anywhere else…… Don’t u think these games r worth encouraging…? Or m I sounding STUPID.…….?

Obituaries....

in last couple of months i had heard the sad news of passing away of many elderly rung mung. some are close relatives and some are not. at the inception of site and also SMS network we had been trying to find ways to share good and bad news both. news is not only for sharing the information but news also enables us to express our solidarity in the hour of need with grieving families or suffering relatives in distant locations. this is just a suggeston that people can send us obituaries of people they might have known well. if some photograph etc is also sent along with that it will help. we can discuss and see how that can be presented. it can be even thru genealogy.

today i did a small round of all the links given by Pankaj and Pramod. It is nice to see youngsters getting together to do something creative. ideally would have loved the news to be broken by one of the members of this group.. and i think we would wait for someone to write a small article from this group so that we can put that as introduction. for others who havent been part of it yet... here are the links again and list of members : "Rung Mung Literary Society Member's" 1.Mahesh Garbyal P.U Chandigarh,3rd Yr ( Chemical Engg.) , City-Chandigarh 2.Shekhar Phakaliyal A.I.E.T Lucknow , b.Tech.-Final Yr (Electronics Engg.), City- Lucknow 3.Yateesh Singh Bonal M.N.N.I.T Allahabad , 2nd Yr ( Electro.&Comm. Engg.) , City- Allahabad 4.Manish Singh Dariyal B.I.E.T Jhansi , 3rd Yr ( Electro.&Comm.Engg.),City -Jhansi 5. Pramod Singh Dugtal Marine Engg.& Research Inst. Kolkata , Passed Out (Marine Engg.),City -Kolkata 6.Pankaj Garbyal (M.N.N.I.T Allahabad , Final Yr (Computer Sc.& Engg.),City -Allahabad 7.Vinay Nabiyal Banaras Hindu University Varanasi ,M.Sc.-1Yr (Geology) City-Varanasi 8.Yogesh Garbyal (Mech. Engineer) D.R.D.O Deharadun, City- Deharadun 9.Deepti Gunjiyal G.B. Pant University Agri.&Tech. Pantnagar, B. SC.-2nd Yr( Agriculture)City-: Pantnagar 10. Komal Nagnyal M. A. N. I.T Bhopal, 3rd Yr (Electro & Comm. Engg.),City - Bhopal 11.Pooja Garbyal I.I.I.T Allahabad,3rd Yr ( Information Technology),City - Allahabad 12.Yogesh Garbyal M.N.I.T Allahabad,1st Yr ( Computer Sc.& Engg.),City- Allahabad 13. Sngeeta Garbyal G.B.Pant University Agri.&Tech. Pantnagar ,B.Sc. ( Agriculture) ,City- Pantnagar 14. Kavita Gunjiyal ( detail are not available..) 15.Pramod Nabiyal I.H.M.C.T Porvorim , B.Sc. ( Hotal Management), City-Porvorim ( Goa) And More.................................... "Rung Mung Literary Event....." "Welcome to Rung Mung Literary Society" Members currently seem to be from engineering and science background. this maybe due to the fact that in these institutes internet is easily available. would love to see some arts/ commerce background students as well to add variety and while at it why leave behind our dear doctors.... good going guys!! keep it up..!! do a write up and keep in touch with pramod and amit to find quickers solutions for implementation... i think students in USA also can also take part... but that is something for group members to decide... as for magazene.. i think e-mag would be easier to put together and publish. we can also publish it at local level by doing and download and getting loca DTP/Printers to publish it in different cities for distribution. Then one can even look at generation small maybe but significant Ad-revenue from it by getting online and local pblishing mix. I suggest members of the group to take some guidance from Jeewan da also in this venture as he is in the creative field for a long time now...!!Another creative person has just logged back.. that is our good old Deebee hya !!! and then maybe there would be ubiquitous t-shirts ... I suggest " I am a CATalyst.. R U ?"
